Belenenses sign young Brazilian defender

Weverson Oliveira pens three-year contract

Belenenses have signed 19-year-old central defender, Weverson Patrik Rodrigues Oliveira, from Treze da Paraiba of Brazil. The player has put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

The Brazilian had been watched on several occasions by club director of football, Carlos Janela, who flew to Brazil to convince the player and his club of the transfer.

Weverson has shown his versatility having also played as a holding midfielder, and the young player is happy to have made the jump to join the Blues.

“I like the club a lot, they have a very good structure, very different from that in Brazil,” he said. “I’m very happy to play for Belenenses and if I continue to work hard, like I have been, I am certain that things will go well in Portugal.”
