Weldon fires Belenenses up to fifth
Uniao de Leiria 1-2 Belenenses
Belenenses shot back up to 5th spot in the tables with a 2-1 win over lowly Uniao de Leiria. Weldon scored a goal in each half to give the Blues the win while Harison got a late consolation goal for the home side.
The loss roots Leiria to 16th spot in the standings with only an inkling of hope of avoiding relegation.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute as Weldon took full advantage of a defensive mishap as Lukasiewicz completely fluffed an attempted clearance and the Belenenses striker was on the spot to make the home side pay for their error.
Leiria picked up their game in the second half, showing with more attacking guile, but all their effort proved futile as they conceded a second goal in the 69th minute. Weldon notched his second goal of the game when the striker headed a Ze Pedro corner kick into the back of the net with authority.

Leiria replied two minutes later when Harison scored a beauty as he let the ball bounce in front of him and struck a venomous shot across the goalmouth and into the net, but it would be a little too late. Leiria have now lost seven of their last eight matches.
If the loss were not enough, things got worse for the Leiriense as the club have been forced to suspend Maciel and Alhandra for a breach of club regulations.
Maciel was caught at a night club in the early hours of the morning and was involved in a scuffle that led to the intervention of the police, while Alhandra has been punished for frequenting a strip club in the early hours, thus breaking club rules. Both players have been suspended indefinitely for their actions.
