Striker Meyong delighted to be back at Belenenses
Mendonca to be loaned to Estrela da Amadora
Belenenses new signing Albert Meyong Ze was officially unveiled to the press yesterday after completing his move from Spanish side Levante.
Meyong is no stranger to the Blues having spent one highly successful season at the Restelo before being transferred to the Valencia-based outfit.
The striker is thrilled at the prospect of starting his second spell at the Portuguese club and admitted he is looking forward to getting his career back on track after a less than productive time with Levante.
“I am very happy to have come back because I did have a good experience while I was here and the board showed a lot of interest in my return,” beamed the Cameroonian. “I hope to show on the field that I can score goals and provide a lot of exciting moments for the fans.”
Meyong believes he was not given enough chances to prove his worth in Spain following his transfer one and a half years ago.
“Lack of opportunities, a different style of football, and bad luck with coaches who did not believe in my style of play explains why things didn’t turn out well. I did not have time to show my qualities. Perhaps I did not work hard enough, I do not know,” Meyong lamented.

In other club news, Belenenses will offload striker Mendonca when he returns from the African Cup of Nations. The player has featured very little since his summer move from Varzim, with the player expressing his discontent at his lack of playing time.
With the arrival of Meyong the forward will get his wish and will now spend the remainder of the season with Estrela da Amadora when he returns from national duty with Angola.
