Belenenses snap up Brazilian trio
Belenenses have started to fill up some gaps in their squad. The Blues have announced the signings of Maykon Araujo, Alicio Fernandes Juliao and Matheus Lopes. The Brazilian trio were all acquired under the auspices of new coach Casemiro Mior.
Araujo arrives as a offensive midfielder, who can also play on the left wing, and was brought in to help the Belenenses attack and lift the burden of Silas and Ze Pedro’s shoulders.
The 24-year-old arrives via Gama, but has also represented Paulista, America Mineiro and Atletico de Goias.
Juliao is a defensive midfielder and is seen as a replacement for Ruben Amorim, who left on a free transfer to Benfica. The ball winner is also 24 years old and arrives from America. Juliao has also represented Atletico Mineiro and Rio Branco.
As for the rearguard, Belenenses have found a replacement for Rolando as the club have snapped up central defender Matheus Lopes from Atletico Paranaense. The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Belem side after losing Rolando to FC Porto.
The stopper, who has also represented Gremio, Ipatinga and America Minas Gerais, comes highly regarded as he was hand picked by new coach Casemiro Mior.
