Hassan Yebda voted September Player of the Month

Benfica midfielder rewarded for impressive start to season

Benfica midfielder Hassan Yebda has collected his first accolade since joining the Eagles in the summer.

The Frenchman was voted Player of the Month for September by the Professional Portuguese Footballers’ Union (SJPF).

The former Le Mans man has been a revelation for Benfica since his arrival and has not gone unnoticed.

Yebda has featured in all of Benfica’s official matches so far this season and has fully advocated the club’s investment in bringing the player to the Estadio da Luz.

Yebda was not the only Benfica player to make the top ten list as four of his team-mates also made the shortlist. Nuno Gomes, Carlos Martins, Miguel Vitor and Sidnei (who was voted second) all received honourable mentions.

Surprisingly, not one player from FC Porto made the list, while Sporting’s Helder Postiga was ranked in eighth spot.
