Portuguese Cup 5th-round draw: Benfica handed tough task
FC Porto travel to third-division minnows
Benfica have been given a tough draw in the fifth round of the Portuguese Cup. The Eagles will lock horns with current Liga Sagres leaders Leixoes at the Estadio do Mar.
FC Porto, who knocked out holders Sporting away in the last round, have been rewarded with a trip to the smallest club left in the competition, Cinfaes.
Another possible tie that will arouse much interest is the likely clash between Setubal and Giumaraes. Provided Setubal negotiate their delayed 4th-round clash against Moncorvo, to be played on 27 November, they will host Manuel Cajuda’s team at the Bonfim.
Another all top-flight match sees Trofense welcome high-flying Madeira club, Nacional.
At least one representative from the lower leagues is guaranteed in the quarter-finals. Valvedez will play one of five opponents for a place in the last eight.
Exactly which one is far from decided yet as a decision on the first-round tie between Lusitano and Fiaes – a match under protest – has not yet been made.
The matches are scheduled for Sunday 14 December.
