Delgado expresses Benfica desire
Argentine ace keen on move to Estadio da Luz
Benfica’s latest transfer target, Cesar Delgado, is excited at the thought of joining the Portuguese giants. Much talk of a purported move has surfaced over the past few days with Delgado reported to be set to sign for the Eagles in the winter transfer window, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
When the Argentine international was asked about the possibility of playing for the Lisbon club, the player could not hold back his enthusiasm at the thought of moving to Portugal. “I would very much like to play at Benfica,” beamed Delgado. “It’s impressive to walk onto the pitch at the Estadio da Luz. I am calm, but it is evident that I dream about playing at Benfica.”
The Cruz Azul forward, who is also known as “Chelito” in Mexico, does not know if a deal can be brokered between his paymasters and Benfica, but feels that he can bring a lot to the team if the two clubs strike an accord.
“Sincerely, I cannot add any more regarding this as my agent takes care of all these issues. But I have a winning mentality, a positive attitude, and I give everything I have to the club I play for. I have always been like this and always will be.”
Despite being in the dark as regards the negotiation process, the Cruz Azul ace will also be looking forward to the prospect of playing alongside Argentine football alumni Oscar Cardozo and Angel Di Maria.
“I would like to play with Cardozo and Di Maria as they are excellent players. I also think that with Cardozo’s characteristics, we can form a formidable duo in attack. He can run on the inside and myself on the outside.”
“It would be a dream to play alongside him at Benfica, as they are a great club. A team that always fights to win big titles, one of the best in Europe. Once again, I am not hiding the fact that to play at Benfica is one of my wishes.”
