Mateus leaves Boavista

Mateus has become the third player to rescind his contract with Boavista, following the lead of Rissut and Marcelao. The Black Panthers are in the midst of a financial crisis and owed the player four months of unpaid wages.

Both parties came to an amicable agreement whereby the Angolan forward would not seek payment for salaries in arrears if the club allowed him out of his contract without penalty.

Mateus should not be out of work for long as his agent, Adolfo Lopes, claims that the marksman is not short of suitors with Belenenses and Nacional both showing interest, as well as a host of other unnamed foreign clubs.
