Boavista announce last-minute signings
Ze Kalanga and Jorge Ribeiro added to squad
Ze Kalanga and Jorge Ribeiro have been presented as the final signings of this summer’s transfer period, penning contracts at Boavista.
The players were registered on transfer deadline day last Friday, but only yesterday were they presented by club president Joao Loureiro. Right winger Kalanga comes on loan from Dinamo Bucharest, while Jorge Ribeiro has signed a one-year deal after playing for Aves last season.
Loureiro was delighted to have snapped up the pair, saying “from now on Boavista will be a pleasant surprise for everybody.” The president added that the only reason the deals were not completed earlier was because of a lack of funds.
Jorge Ribeiro, brother of Portugal international Maniche, said his main goal was “to work hard in this club, have an excellent season and fulfil my main aim which is to return to the national team. I’m at a big club with a great team.”
Angolan Ze Kalanga is happy to return to Portugal, saying it is a step forward in his career.
Coach Jaime Pacheco will be hoping the two new faces settle quickly to help Boavista move upwards after a poor start to the season. The Black Panthers have picked up just two points from their first three Liga matches, as well as being knocked out of the new League Cup.
