Joao Pinto set for MLS adventure

Veteran striker expected to complete Toronto move

Joao Pinto

Former Portugal international Joao Vieira Pinto is lining up a move to North America to join Toronto FC of the Major League Soccer.

The ex-Benfica and Sporting forward has reached an agreement to rescind his contract with Sporting Braga after returning from negotiations in Canada.

Pinto has recently fallen down the pecking order at Braga with the likes of Roland Linz, Joao Tomas, Wender and Jailson all ahead of the 36-year-old in terms of striker options.

If the move goes ahead Pinto will be the second former Portugal international to join the league’s ranks, with Abel Xavier having made a move to the LA Galaxy last season.

The transfer is likely excite and be warmly greeted by the massive Portuguese community in Toronto.
