Manuel Machado unveiled as new Braga coach

Experienced tactician takes over northern club

Manuelo Machado

Sporting Braga have found a replacement for Jorge Costa as the club will unveil Manuel Machado today as the team's new head coach.

Braga axed the former FC Porto defender two weeks ago after drawing 1-1 with Naval. The club decided to place Antonio Caldas as their interim coach in their match against Leixoes last week and took a 3-0 pounding, no doubt hastening the Arsenalistas’ search for a new team manager.

Machado will become the team's fourth head coach in a little over a year and the league's sixth new coach overall. Machado has been out of a job since he was replaced by Domingos Paciencia at Academica after the third round earlier this season.

Braga will be Machado’s fifth coaching job as the well-travelled Portuguese tactician was previously at Moreirense, Vitoria Guimaraes, Nacional and Academica.
