Cluj's Portuguese players

Antonio Semedo

Antonio Semedo

Pacey front man Antonio Semedo is possibly the most successful of Cluj’s Portuguese imports. The Lisbon-born forward joined the club ahead of the 2006/07 campaign and became a fans’ favourite over the course of the season, scoring seven league goals in 31 matches.

The nimble striker is a former Portuguese under-21 international, stemming from the early stages of his six-year spell with Estrela da Amadora from 2000-2006.

Ricardo Cadu

Ricardo Cadu

A 650,000 Euro signing from Boavista in 2006, defender Ricardo Cadu is a key player for Cluj. The 6ft tall centre-back is an automatic first choice in the heart of the team’s defence, and played 25 league games in his first season with the club as Cluj recorded a highest ever finish of 3rd place in 2006/07.

Pedro Oliveira

Pedro Oliveira

Central midfielder Pedro Oliveira made the switch to Romanian football from Vitoria Setubal in June 2006, arriving at Cluj on a free transfer after struggling to make an impact in Portuguese football. The Porto native was a regular fixture during his first campaign, but as the club continue to recruit new players, Oliveira has seen his playing time limited since the start of the new season.

Manuel Jose

Manuel Jose

Along with Ricardo Cadu, Pedro Oliveira and Antonio Semedo, right-sided defender/midfielder Manuel Jose represents the other prominent Portuguese player in Cluj’s historic 2006/07 season. Having arrived from Boavista during the summer of 2006 for 300,000 euros, the former Portugal under-21 international played 29 matches in the Romanian top flight in his debut season.

Dani

Dani

Daniel Ricardo, commonly known as ‘Dani’ is an increasingly important member of the Cluj squad, having moved to Romania halfway through the 2006/07 season from Pacos de Ferreira. Making his first appearance for the club in March 2007, playmaker Dani went on to feature in nine league games during the remainder of the campaign and has since become a regular in the Cluj side.

Others:
Nuno Claro (goalkeeper)
Amoreirinha (defender)
Fredy (defender)
Vitinha (defender)
Andre Leao (midfielder)
