A Uefa Cup and Champions League winner at FC Porto, Nuno Valente has a happy knack of hitting form when it really matters. Despite frequent injury problems over the years, he has been Portugal's top left-back in the Scolari era, enjoying magnificent tournaments at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Although again troubled by injuries since moving to the Premiership, Valente has established himself in Liverpool as an exemplary professional and is well appreciated by the Everton faithful.
