Antonio Semedo brings the Romanian Cup to Cluj
CFR Cluj 2-1 Unirea Urziceni
After they were crowned champions on Wednesday, the Portuguese players of CFR Cluj continued their brilliant performances of this season by winning the Romanian Cup, beating Unirea Urziceni 2-1 in the final of Piatra Neamt on Saturday.
Portuguese forward Antonio Semedo scored the goal that brought the second trophy of the season to Cluj, in the 64th minute of the final act of the Cup.
CFR became the sixth Romanian team to conquer both the national title and the national cup in the same season.
Tony, captain Cadu, Manuel Jose, Dani and Antonio Semedo all started the final game of the season which proved a perfect finale to a memorable year for the Transylvanian team.
“We have to obtain the same success next season,” said chairman Iuliu Muresan, whose team will play in Champions League directly into the group stage in 2008/09.
