Invincible CFR Cluj march on in Romania
CFR Cluj 2-0 Universitatea Cluj
CFR Cluj finished unbeaten the first half of this season, after their 2-0 victory in the 17th round of Romanian Liga I on Sunday, against their biggest rivals, Universitatea Cluj.
The second Cluj goal, scored by Trica, came after a raid by Antonio Semedo, one of the four Portuguese players used by coach Ioan Andone.
The local derby was of huge importance, and according to some sources even led to the presence of officers from the Romanian Secret Services.
The win makes CFR Cluj’s record a hugely impressive thirteen victories and four draws, which unsurprisingly sees them leading the table comfortably.
With two rounds still to be disputed before the winter break, Cluj are eleven points ahead of Rapid Bucharest, Poli Timisoara and Unirea Urziceni, all three of whom have 32 points.
