Cluj marching towards historic title?

Rapid Bucharest 1-2 CFR Cluj

The Romanian-Portuguese team of CFR Cluj maintained first place in Liga I after winning on Sunday, 2-1 away at Rapid Bucharest, one of the traditional forces who fight for the title of champion of Romania every season.

The Romanian press is now viewing Cluj as the principal candidate for the title.

Teams such as Dinamo Bucharest (reigning champions) or Steaua Bucharest (runners-up) have been left trailing in the wake of Cluj after the first twelve rounds of the competition.

Nuno Claro, captain Cadu, Dani and Semedo were the representatives of the squad’s 10-man Portuguese contingent that were in the Cluj starting line-up, while Manuel Jose and Andre Leao remained on the bench.
