Academica strengthen squad with African duo

Squad rebuilding continues apace for Coimbra club

Academica have announced the signing of Ivory Coast players, Fofana and Vouho. Both players have signed deals after impressing during a trial period with the club.

Coach Manuel Machado (pictured) thinks highly of his new signings, saying “they have quality for this championship.”

Fofana is a midfielder while Vouho will add to the club’s striker options. The Students may yet add to their squad, saying they would like to sign a left-back before the window closes after Lira left for Hapoel Kfar Saba of Israel.

Another player that might be joining the club is FC Porto’s Renteria. The Colombian has not lived up to expectations since signing for the Portuguese champions in the January transfer window. Academica are considering taking the player on loan.
