Manuel Fernandes’ Everton move confirmed

Portugal midfielder rejoins high-flying Premiership club

Manuel Fernandes

La Liga side Valencia have confirmed that Manuel Fernandes has been loaned to Everton until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

The capture will no doubt excite Everton fans after the Portuguese international midfielder enjoyed a successful spell on loan at the Liverpool-based club last season.

Indeed, Fernandes looked set to sign for the Toffees in the close season, only for Valencia to steal in and grab his signature from under the Premiership’s club noses. However, things have not worked out for the former Benfica player at the struggling Spanish side.

The official Valencia club site yesterday announced:

“Valencia and Everton have reached an agreement for the loan of Portuguese midfielder Manuel Fernandes to the English club until the end of the season,” adding that the deal includes an option for Everton to buy the player outright at the end of the loan period.

Fernandes will travel to Liverpool this Thursday to undergo medical tests before signing on the dotted line.
