Valente delighted with World Cup support from Everton fans

Nuno Valente

Portuguese defender Nuno Valente has thanked the Everton fans for their support during the World Cup, and is looking forward to the new season with the Premiership side.

Valente joined the Merseysiders last summer from Porto, and has been impressed at the level of interest shown by the club’s fans throughout Portugal’s campaign in Germany.

“My friends are keeping me informed of everything that is going on back in England and it is very pleasing for me that the Everton fans are showing such an interest,” Valente told Evertonfc.com.

“I have seen some Everton flags at the matches and it just shows how much love they have for football.”

Although the 31-year-old is still focused on the World Cup, he has been keeping an eye on developments back in England: “I was very happy to learn that Joseph Yobo has agreed to sign a new contract.”

“I also read that David Weir has signed a new deal and I am pleased that these good players and experienced professionals are committing themselves to Everton.”

“We have made some very good signings and once the World Cup is over I will be giving my full concentration to Everton and I will really be looking forward to the new season.”
