Guimaraes snap up Brazilian prospect
Jose Lionn signs five-year contract
Vitoria Guimaraes are already preparing for next season as the club announced the signing of promising right-back, Jose Lionn.
The 19-year-old prospect has signed on a five-year deal from lower-league club Torreense, but will not commence his new adventure with Guimaraes until May of this year.
The Brazilian, who arrived in Portugal at the beginning of the season, is thrilled with the move and is looking forward to playing for his new club.
“I am very happy. Vitoria are a big club and have a beautiful stadium. They have an excellent structure which offers all the conditions needed for a player to have a great career. The only thing that is missing is for me to start playing,” said a radiant Lionn.
The player was once under the scope of Liga rivals Benfica, but failed to impress the club while on a trail. Lionn has no hard feelings about his experience with the Lisbon giants, and says he will use it to his advantage now he has signed for Guimaraes.
“At 16 years of age I came to Portugal. I spent 15 days training with Benfica and then I returned to Brazil. I did not adapt. I signed for Torreense at the beginning of this season and now I am at Vitoria. They are one of the big clubs in Portugal.”
