Guimaraes coach Manuel Cajuda handed contract extension
Wily tactician rewarded for remarkable achievements
Vitoria Guimaraes have reacted to the team’s sensational start to the season by handing head coach, Manuel Cajuda, a contract extension that will keep the Portuguese schemer tied to the club until 2010.
The historical side, who were promoted last season, are experiencing a fantastic year thus far as they currently occupy third spot in the Bwin Liga.
The coach’s achievements have been duly recognised by the Guimaraes board and Cajuda was delighted to sign on the dotted line.
“It’s logical that I feel very happy,” announced Cajuda. “This is what I wanted. I feel very good at Guimaraes. I was never after the money. I was after what I enjoyed doing and happiness.”
Cajuda only took over the head coach position from Norton de Matos midway though last season when the club were some way short of the promotion positions in the then Liga da Honra.
Since his arrival he has returned the club to the top flight in Portugal and is now in the hunt for a Champions League spot.
