Nwoko thrilled to be signing for Reading
Reading are close to signing Nigerian midfielder Udo Nwoko from Portuguese club Leixoes. It is believed that talks are at an advanced stage with the two sides only having to finalise the fine details.
Leixoes president Carlos Oliveira has confessed to Sky Sports that the deal is close to being done with the Portuguese outfit set to receive close to 750,000 euros for the transfer of the midfielder.
Nwoko has made 11 appearances and scored two goals for the newly promoted Matosinhos team, and is expected to sign a three-year deal with The Royals.
The speedy African is eager to start his new adventure in the Premiership. “I am familiar with the Premier League through television and it would be fantastic to play over there. I am really excited and Reading are a club with great fighting spirit, and that suits my style of play.”

Braga bolster squad
Sporting Braga continue to be active in the transfer market. The club have picked up Pablo Contreras on a free transfer.
The former Sporting centre-back makes a return to Portugal after having rescinded with second division side Celta de Vigo.
The Chilean has signed with Braga until the end of the season. Should he impress Manuel Machado, the club are willing to discuss the possibility of a longer deal.
Contreras is the club’s third January signing after nabbing Miguelito (ex-Benfica) and Breno Silva (ex-Nautico de Recife).
Moving in the other direction, Braga have allowed Brazilian striker Lenny to return home and join Palmeiras. The 19-year-old hitman, who arrived on loan from Fluminense, did not feature much making just one appearance for the Arsenalistas.
