Tiago vows to succeed at Juventus
Midfielder aiming to silence critics in Italy
Juventus’ Portuguese midfielder Tiago has expressed his desire to stay with the Italian side, amid speculation that he may move on during the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old has struggled since his summer move to Turin from French champions Lyon and had recently admitted that he would consider his future in the next transfer window.
However, despite reported interest from Barcelona and several English clubs, Tiago has now offered his full commitment to the Bianconeri after seeing more action in recent weeks.
“I am pleased to hear of interest from great clubs,” he told Sky Italia. “But for now I am only concentrated on Juve and getting the best out of myself in this shirt.
“We’ll see what happens in January, but as far as I am concerned, my future is here. I had a difficult start, but I’m finding consistency.”
On his previous comments about leaving, which earned him punishment from the club and public criticism from manager Claudio Ranieri, Tiago responded: “I just said what was in my heart. Ranieri quite rightly answered back, but I did not take the club’s fine well. I respect their decision to fine me, but I don’t think I said anything that bad.
“My rapport with team-mates is very good, as I have settled in well now. My only problems were physical. In the past three games I have played more.
“It could be my moment, I am working hard and feel in good shape. The choice, ultimately, belongs to the coach.”
