Queiroz: “Ronaldo the greatest talent I have ever worked with”

Assistant coach heaps praise on compatriot

Manchester United’s Portuguese assistant manager Carlos Queiroz says that Cristiano Ronaldo is the most talented player he has worked with during his career in football, following another sensational performance from the winger in Saturday’s victory over Bolton.

Queiroz has worked with many of the game’s greatest talents over the last fifteen years during spells coaching various Portuguese international teams, as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid, but the United number two believes that Ronaldo surpasses anyone he has seen throughout his time in the game.

“I can say that at the moment, in terms of performances, results and the outcome of his game I can’t see in the world another player that is doing so well and producing so much in each game,” Queiroz told the BBC after the victory over Bolton.

“His football qualities are amazing and I think in my entire career working with so many fantastic stars I never saw in one single player so many qualities together.”

“The harmony of everything that he has – the fantasy, the creativity, the speed, the technique, the shooting, the heading. Everything all together in one body and one mind, it really is something special.”

“I’ve worked with Figo, Ronaldo, Raul, Zidane but I never saw a player with so many things together in harmony.”

“I want to get better” – Ronaldo

Ronaldo, who many believe to be the frontrunner for the end of season awards in England, was happy to hear of the tribute from his compatriot, and says that such praise encourages him to work harder.

“If Carlos says this then I am very proud, it is very good for me. It gives me motivation to do more and get even better,” said the 22-year-old, who admits to enjoying his football at the moment.

“I try to enjoy every game. At the moment I feel good, I am in good form. Of course the team are helping because we are winning every game. When this happens it is easier for me. It has been a great performance from the team, also.”

“We are in good form. We are playing well. The team is confident and we have everything to win the Premier League.”
