Maritimo snap up Falkirk’s Moutinho
Portuguese striker ends four-year stint in Scotland
Portuguese striker Pedro Moutinho is set to bring an end to his four-year stay in Scottish football by signing a two-year contract with Maritimo.
The 28-year-old, who moved to Falkirk from Penafiel in 2004, scored eight goals this season, helping his side to a 7th place finish in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, but was out of contract this summer.
Moutinho was heavily linked with a move in January, with English Premiership outfit Fulham and Turkey’s Kayserispor strongly tipped as possible destinations, but the striker has now opted for a move back home with the Madeira side, who will be playing in next season’s Uefa Cup.
It will be Moutinho’s second spell at the Estadio dos Barreiros, having spent three seasons with the club’s B team between 1999 and 2002, which led to him representing Portugal at under-21 level at the Toulon tournament.
