“It was a high quality match. We lost, Mexico scored twice and we only scored once. We ended up losing the match when I believe the two teams had very similar quality.”

“I acknowledge that Mexico have an excellent team. At the end of the match their coach congratulated us and said we’ll meet again in the final. But we don’t live off praise, we live of points and we didn’t get any points out of the match.”

“Portugal were much better defensively than against New Zealand. Whoever scored first was never likely to lose the match. We had to chase the game and gave more space.”

“But I’m not unsatisfied with our performance. Portugal gave everything and were the equal of a very good team.”
