Armenia 1-1 Portugal: match reaction

Luiz Felipe Scolari:

“The team did what they could. They had to play the way they did. They committed normal errors, but they did not lack the will or desire. It was not possible to construct something better because of our opponents. I have never seen a team run so much throughout 90 minutes.”

“Clearly, this complicates things as we are now left with very little margin for error from here on in.”

Ricardo:

“We did not want anything less than a victory, but a draw ends up being the least bad result. Now we will wait to see if the points that we did not get hurt us in the future.”

“There are various factors, but the main one was that we did not manage to play the ball along the ground. It was a game where the ball was a lot of time in the air and this is not our style of play. The state of the pitch, which was very, very difficult, did not allow for short passes, but we should have won. Now we must win the next two games at home.”

Cristiano Ronaldo:

“They ran more than we did, but this does not mean anything. We created the better opportunities.”

“But now we must think in a positive manner for the upcoming games. When you do not win the points, it always leaves you wanting more, but we play the next two matches at home and we have everything it takes to win.”

Deco:

“Qualification is still in the open, but we have to win the next matches. We were not prepared for their goal and we knew that they would run a lot as they have created a lot of difficulties for the other teams. We tried to do our best.”
