Naval’s Dani lashes out at “lack of respect”

Goalkeeper disappointed to be released by Naval

Naval goalkeeper Dani Moreno has called time on his career. The 34-year-old will hang up his boots after Naval failed to tender a contract extension to the player.

The Spanish net-minder, who suffered a serious knee injury last September, keeping him out of action for the entire season, is disappointed that the club did not opt to extend his playing days.

Dani is hurt with the club’s decision and feels that he should have been shown more respect. “I thought I was going to stay with Naval, but the coach thought otherwise. It is not right on my part to speak badly of the president, nor any other people, as everyone has treated me well,” he said.

“But, without mentioning names, there was someone who spoke with the president and afterwards had him call me to break the news. For the time I spent there, I think I deserved a little more respect from the person who decides on making the contracts and organises the squad,” said the bitter goalkeeper.

As for Dani’s future, the player is free to sign with any club in Portugal or make a return to his native Spain, but the stopper says he is likely to end his career.
