Pacos de Ferreira coach Jose Mota stands down

Stalwart boss leaves club after 21-year association

Jose Mota has stepped down as head coach from Liga Vitalis bound Pacos de Ferreira. In an expected move, Mota leaves the club after having been affiliated with the institution for a remarkable 21 years.

Failing to stay up in the top flight was too much for Mota to handle as the Portuguese tactician decided to call it quits on his time with the team from Mata Real.

“One thing is undisputed and that is that I am part of the club’s history as a player and as a coach. I always entered and exited through the same door with the same amount of dignity,” explained Mota at a press conference.

Club president Fernando Sequeira wanted to use the opportunity to thank the long-time servant for his dedicated and tireless efforts over more than two decades.

“I would like to thank the notable professional work which has been displayed over the years with Pacos de Ferreira, a club with which he will always be connected, writing some of the most brilliant pages of the club’s history books.”

It is not known if Pacos have identified any possible targets as Mota’s replacement as the club prepares for life in Portugal’s lower division. As for Mota himself, given his vast experience in the Portuguese top flight it may not be long before he reappears on another team’s bench.
