Pauleta hits double as ten-man PSG romp to victory

Paris Saint Germain 4-2 Sedan

Paris Saint Germain ended a tumultuous week by hammering Sedan 4-2 at the Parc des Princes with a brace from Portuguese striker, Pauleta.

Earlier in the week the club from the French capital made the shock decision to sack ex-France international, Vikash Dhorasoo, due to alleged lack of loyalty and confrontation with the hierarchy of the Parisian club.

The scoring started early in the first half when Pierre-Alan Frau put the Parisians ahead in the 6th minute. It did not take Sedan long to equalise, however, with Lachor putting the visitors level in the 18th minute.

It appeared that PSG were going to regress to their bad habits when Frau was told to take an early shower by the referee. The ex-Lyon striker turned from hero to villain when he was shown a straight red card for a late tackle on Sedan’s Stephane Noro just before the break.

The sending off seemed to reinvigorate PSG as they looked focused and determined to get a positive result after the break, despite the numerical disadvantage.

The home fans were celebrating when Colombia international Mario Yepes put PSG one up in the 50th minute. Afterwards Pauleta went to work and did what he does best as he got his first of two goals of the night in the 56th minute, and subsequently converted a penalty in the 73rd minute.

Boutabout made the scoreline more respectable for Sedan by pulling one back late in injury time.

Nonetheless, PSG walked away with all three points, although the win does little to improve the club’s position in Le Championat, as they remain in the bottom half of the table occupying 12th spot.
