Mourinho fulfils FA Cup dream

Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup final after extra time, with Didier Drogba’s 116th minute strike completing Jose Mourinho’s set of medals in England. Paulo Ferreira played at right-back for the Blues, while Cristiano Ronaldo was in the United side.

Pauleta hits brace

The penultimate weekend in France’s Ligue 1 saw champions Lyon fall to a surprise 1-0 defeat at Monaco, with Tiago starting ahead of being replaced in the 70th minute. Pedro Pauleta scored a brace as Paris Saint-Germain beat Troyes 2-1 in the capital. Marco Ramos played the full ninety minutes of Lens’ 0-0 home draw with Nice.

Germany - Bundesliga

Fernando Meira lifts title

Stuttgart were crowned German champions with a 2-1 home win over Energie Cottbus, with Fernando Meira captaining his side to their first title in fifteen years. Hugo Almeida played the full match as Werder Bremen finished third after a 2-0 away win at Wolfsburg, who left defender Alex on the bench.

Ze Antonio played in defence for relegated Borussia Monchengladbach in their 2-0 home defeat to Bochum. Alemannia Aachen, who are also relegated, were without Sergio Pinto as they crashed 4-0 at Hamburg.

Italy - Serie A

Figo hits net

Luis Figo came off the bench to score his first Serie A goal of the season from the penalty spot in Inter’s 1-1 draw with Atalanta. The Portuguese winger came on five minutes before the break with his side 1-0 down, and converted a spot-kick early in the second half to earn his side a point.

Fernando Couto played in the Parma defence as a 0-0 draw at Lazio to remain two points clear of the relegation zone. Jose Vidigal was not in the Livorno squad for their goalless draw at Torino, while Ricardo Esteves was not in the Reggina squad as they drew 3-3 with Empoli. Jose Semedo was an unused substitute as Cagliairi stunned Roma with a 3-2 home win.

Spain - La Liga

Barcelona hit Atletico for six

There was no change at the top of La Liga as all four sides won to leave the title race delicately poised with three games remaining. Deco played a big role in Barcelona’s sensational 6-0 win at Atletico Madrid, who started with Maniche and Ze Castro. Real Madrid stay top after a 3-2 win at Recreativo, for whom Roberto Beto started at the back.

Duda came off the bench to set up the first goal as Sevilla came from behind to beat Jorge Andrade’s Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 on Sunday. A last-minute Joaquin winner gave Valencia a 1-0 win at Mallorca. Miguel played at right back for Valencia, who left Hugo Viana on the bench, while Jose Nunes was in the home defence.

Belgium

Third placed Standard Liege signed off in the Jupiler League with a disappointing 2-0 defeat Mouscron. Defender Nuno Coelho and attacker Sa Pinto both played the full ninety minutes for Standard.

Poland

Zaglebie missed out on the chance to go top of the Polish league with two matches left, after a 2-1 defeat away to Gornik L. Rui Miguel played the full ninety minutes in attack for Zaglebie, who are two points behind leaders GKS Belchatow heading into the penultimate weekend of the campaign.

Romania

Third placed CFR Cluj remain just two points behind Steaua Bucharest in second going into the final weekend of the season, after a 1-0 win at Poli Lasi on Saturday.

As ever, there was a strong Portuguese connection in the Cluj side, with the club starting with all seven of their contingent in the lineup. Tony, Ricardo Cadu and Fredy played in defence, Manuel Jose, Dani and Pedro Oliveira in midfield and Antonio Semedo in attack. Bruno Simao played the full ninety minutes for UTA Arad in their 2-1 home win over FCU Poli.

Russia

Dynamo Moscow drew 0-0 at home with FC Moscow in the Russian Premier League on Sunday. Danny played the full match for Dynamo, while Cicero started but was replaced with 15 minutes remaining.

Scotland

Hearts lost out on a place in next season’s UEFA Cup after a 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock saw them finish 4th in the Scottish Premier League. Jose Goncalves played in defence for the Jambos. Meanwhile, Falkirk finished 7th as Pedro Moutinho came off the bench to score the final goal in a 3-0 win at Dunfermline. Vitor Lima played the full ninety minutes for Falkirk.

Switzerland

Carlitos was on the scoresheet for FC Sion as they beat St.Gallen 3-0 away from home on Saturday. The former Benfica man started the match, and scored the third before being replaced in the 81st minute.

Grasshoppers’ inconsistent season continued as they were humbled 3-0 at home by FC Thun, with Neslon Ferreira scoring the third for the visitors. Roberto Pinto played the full match for the hosts.

Schaffhausen were without injured midfielder Carlos da Silva for their 2-0 defeat to Aarau, while Luis Calapes missed Luzern’s 3-0 loss to title challengers Basel.

Turkey

Konyaspor are still in 6th place in the Turkcell Süper Lig, despite Neca’s men going down to a 1-0 defeat at Rizespor on Sunday.

Pauleta (Paris Saint-Germain)

With his side now safe from the threat of relegation, Pauleta is looking to end the season on a high, and the Azorean struck twice in PSG’s 2-1 win over Troyes to go top of the Ligue 1 goalscorers charts.
