Duda confident Sevilla can complete Supercup victory

Sevilla winger looking forward to productive season

Sevilla’s Portuguese winger Duda says that his team will travel to Real Madrid for the second leg of the Spanish Supercup in buoyant mood next week, after winning the home leg on Saturday.

Luis Fabiano’s first half penalty gave the Andalucians a slender lead to take to the Spanish capital, and Duda, who played over an hour of the match, is confident that his side can complete the job next week.

“Everyone knows the Santiago Bernabeu is a difficult place to play, but we go there with the advantage,” said the former Malaga man. “If we do things well, we expect to maintain the scoreline, or increase it, to reach our objective.”

“We did not give them space to play. We played a good game. Real Madrid are a great team, but time is now against them.”

Before the return leg with Real, Duda’s men face Greek side AEK Athens in the Champions League qualification rounds, with Sevilla playing at home first on Wednesday evening as they look to secure Champions League football for the first time.

“AEK are a great team, but we have been used to playing against big teams for some time now. We have had a good run of results and we hope to continue like that. Sevilla has been growing for the last two years and we should keep that going.”

On a personal level, Duda will be hoping to see more action for last season’s Uefa Cup and Copa Del Rey winners, after the left-sided midfielder made a low-key debut campaign with the club last year.

“It is a new season, I have done a complete pre-season and I expect to get more confidence so that the coach gives me more matches,” finished the left-sided midfielder.
