FC Porto’s Argentine contingent rises to five
Striker Ernesto Farias signs in 4m euro deal
FC Porto have acquired the services of Argentinian striker Ernesto Farias from River Plate.
The 4m euro signing sees the marksman join Edgar, Renteira, Helder Postiga, Adriano and Lisandro Lopez as the options for the front positions in the team.
The 27-year-old will undergo medical exams and put pen to paper in the course of this week. Farias arrives in unusual circumstances as the player had just completed a transfer to Toluca of Mexico and had been training with his new club.
But due to health issues affecting his wife, who was unable to get acclimatised to the city’s altitude, the family had to move back to Argentina.
The former Palermo and Estudiantes player will now sign a 4-year contract with the Portuguese champions and will increase the Argentinian contingent at the club to five.
Fellow countrymen, Lisandro Lopez, Lucho Gonzalez, Mario Bolatti and Mariano Gonzalez are already on the payroll.
