Fucile signs long-term Porto deal

FC Porto have officially announced that they have signed Uruguayan right-back Jorge Fucile to a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2010.

The club have exercised their option of purchasing the player, paying an additional 400 000 euros, on top of the 200 000 already paid, for his signature from Liverpool of Montevideo.

The full-back broke into the team recently and his impressive performances have kept out previous first-teamer Marek Cech.

Maciel to rescind Porto contract

Braga winger, Maciel has filed to rescind his contract with FC Porto, claiming the club has failed to pay him 5 months of salary. Porto have until December 4 to either settle the debt or prove that all payments are up to date.

The winger who is on loan to Braga is supposed to receive 60% of his salary from Porto, but he says he has not been paid since the loan move took place. If Porto do not come up with the funds in time, the player’s contract with the Dragons will be rendered null and void and the speedy winger will become a free agent.

In any event, Maciel will stay with Braga until the end of the season at which time he may sign for any club with Porto not receiving a dime in compensation.
