Ricardo Quaresma transfer to Inter Milan close to completion
Jose Mourinho set to land FC Porto winger
Ricardo Quaresma is set to sign for Italian champions Inter Milan within the next 48 hours.
The drawn-out transfer saga is close to reaching a satisfactory conclusion for all parties, with FC Porto expected to accept a cash plus player offer from the Italians. Portugal U21 midfielder Pele will move to the Estadio do Dragao as part of the deal.
Agent Jorge Mendes and the two clubs are thrashing out the fine details after almost total agreement regarding the deal.
Quaresma has been left out of the Porto squad for the club’s opening two matches this season after the Dragons acquiesced to his publicly stated desire to move abroad. The club were originally holding out for a 40m euro fee – the amount of his buy-out clause – but the final amount shall be substantially lower.
Portuguese midfielder Pele enjoyed an impressive first season in Milan, but Jose Mourinho is prepared to let the former Guimaraes player leave to tie up the deal.
Pele would undoubtedly be a useful member of the Porto squad for Jesualdo Ferreira given the shock exit of regular defensive midfielder Paulo Assuncao at the end of last season.
