Sensational Leixoes stun FC Porto to go top of the table
FC Porto 2-3 Leixoes
Porto continued their poor form as they lost 3-2 against Leixoes, giving the team from Matosinhos 1st place in the league.
Two goals from Braga and one from Bruno China were enough to beat Porto, for whom Argentine duo Lucho Gonzalez and Lisandro Lopez scored.
Are Porto in a crisis right now? Coach Jesualdo Ferreira says no but the results suggest otherwise.
Leixoes started strongly and scored from the first goal occasion in the 3rd minute, with Bruno China taking advantage of some shocking defending to head past Nuno.
Braga doubled the visitors’ lead on 28 minutes, again taking advantage of being left completely unmarked close to goal.
Porto answered with a penalty converted by Lucho soon afterwards, and at last began to exert pressure on Leixoes.
Just after the hour mark Lisandro Lopez brought the hosts level with a brilliant individual goal, and as the crowd celebrated most inside the stadium expected Porto to complete the comeback with a winner in the final half hour.
However, Leixoes had other ideas, and after seeing a perfectly legal goal ruled out for offside, Jose Mota’s side silenced the majority of the crowd inside the Estadio do Dragao as man-of-the-match Braga hit an unstoppable 20-metre shot past Nuno to put the visitors back in front.
Gonzalez was unlucky not to equalise when his effort thudded against the post, but Leixoes held on for their first victory away to Porto in three decades.
