Vaz Te ends season with praise ringing in his ears

Ricardo Vaz Tê

Bolton Wanderers assistant manager Sammy Lee has praised Ricardo Vaz Te after the Portuguese forward’s excellent form towards the end of the Premiership season.

The 19-year-old finished the campaign with three goals in Bolton’s last four league games, including the winner against Birmingham on Sunday.

The former Farense man also scored an important equaliser against Middlesbrough in the Trotters’ previous match.

The Portuguese had been struggling to make an impression on the Bolton first team this season, having been named the club’s Young Player of the Year in 2004/05, and only eight of his thirty-two appearances have been from the start.

But Lee believes that Vaz Te has obvious potential, and hopes to help the former Farense forward improve even further next season.

He said: “Ricardo’s potential is there for all to see. He has a number of assets and we are trying to make sure he utilises these assets.”

“These are early days for him and he is still learning the game. If he keeps progressing he will have possibilities here.”
