Vaz Te targets UEFA Cup spot

After scoring his first Premiership goal at the weekend, Ricardo Vaz Te has urged his Bolton team-mates not to give up on their pursuit of a UEFA Cup place.

The Portuguese forward believes that his side cannot afford to make mistakes in their remaining three games, which include an away trip to Tottenham, followed by two home games against Middlesbrough and Birmingham.

“We can still get there but we cannot slip up. We need to try to win all our games. But Spurs away will be hard because they are doing really well,” warned the talented teenager.

After a good run of recent appearances, Vaz Te admits that it was a big relief to finally score his first Premiership goal. Although he has scored in Cup competitions, the 19-year-old feels that the goal against Charlton last Saturday relieved a lot of pressure on him.

“The pressure has all gone and I can just relax now. Hopefully, for the next game, I will feel the same and take my chance.”

Dancing duo

The goal against Charlton also gave the youngster an opportunity to perform his new goal celebration. Vaz Te and Senegalese midfielder Abdoulaye Faye performed a dance after the goal, and Vaz Te insists that it is something that takes place quite regularly at the club’s training ground.

“It’s just normal. When we arrive in the morning, some say ‘Good Morning’, others shake hands; me and Faye have got this thing we do.”
