Braga beaten again by Bremen

Braga 0-1 Werder Bremen (agg. 0-4)

German giants Werder Bremen proved too strong for Braga as the Bundesliga outfit beat the Arsenalistas 1-0 in Portugal last night to complete a 4-0 aggregate victory.

In a poor game neither Braga nor Bremen produced the quality football seen in the first leg last week, where two missed penalties by Braga put paid to any realistic chance they harboured of causing an upset.

Chances were at a premium all night, and Klasnic scored the only goal on 77 minutes to pile more misery on under-fire coach, Manuel Machado, whose side are yet to win a game in 2008.

Manuel Machado, Braga coach:

“The tie was difficult right from the moment the draw was made. Werder Bremen had come from the Champions League, they are second in the Bundesliga and it was obvious we would find it tough going.

“We missed two penalties there and made two defensive mistakes, which left us with an extremely difficult task.

“Today we started well, but we lost energy as the game came towards the end. My players were dignified in the way they kept going.”
