Almeida enjoys flying start at Werder Bremen

Portuguese under-21 international scores on debut

Hugo Almeida

Portuguese striker Hugo Almeida got on the scoresheet to help his new club, Werder Bremen, win their Bundesliga season opener 4-2 against Hannover.

The scoring started when another ex-Porto player, Diego, netted for Bremen on 19 minutes.

Hannover levelled through a Stajner strike just before the interval, and then they took the lead when Hashemian found the net in the 66th minute.

Hugo Almeida made his debut for Bremen, coming on as a substitute after 76 minutes, replacing Croatian international, Ivan Klasnic.

It did not take long for Almeida to make his presence felt as he pulled Bremen level just three minutes after coming on.

From then onwards Bremen never looked back as German international, Miroslav Klose, put his team ahead 3-2 six minutes from time and Daniel Jensen added an insurance goal just before full time.
