Holland next up for buoyant Portugal
One defeat in nine matches augurs well for Scolari’s team
As expected Argentina finished top of Group C, meaning that Portugal will face Holland in the last 16 of the World Cup on Sunday evening.
The Dutch will hold no fears for the Portuguese, who boast an excellent record against their powerful European opponents.
The two nations have met a total of nine times and only once has Holland got the better of Portugal. The Iberians have won five of the matches, and there have been three draws.
The two teams last met in the 2004 European championships in Portugal, with the host nation running out 2-1 winners thanks to a Ronaldo header (pictured) and a spectacular Maniche strike.
