Portugal-France match reaction
Figo:
“It was fate. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to defeat France and at this moment we are very disappointed, but at the same time I am proud to belong to this squad. We gave everything out on the pitch and we were not inferior to France, we just didn’t manage to get the goal.”
“Forgetting this result will be difficult, but we have to try to win on Saturday.”
Ronaldo:
“We’re sad, as you would expect, but we want to win on Saturday against Germany to get third place. We tried everything to get to the final, but the referee pushed us back. He whistled for everything just for one team.”
Luiz Felipe Scolari:
“We tried everything to stay in the competition and to get the goal to progress. Today the goal didn’t appear. France scored and won. Congratulations to France.”
Pauleta:
“I think we played a good World Cup. Again it was a penalty that put us out. Good luck to France. I’m disappointed for us, for the squad and for the Portuguese.”
Eusebio:
“Above all we lacked a bit of luck. But we have a match against Germany, where we can still reach a position of much merit - a bronze medal.”
