Sporting Braga won the 2012/13 Taça da Liga (League Cup) tonight, beating FC Porto 1-0 in the final in Coimbra. A penalty from Alan on the stroke of half time gave the Arsenalistas a deserved triumph, and the club’s first major silverware for almost half a century. |

Braga beat Benfica on penalties to make final of Taça da Liga
Quim the hero against his former employers
Braga are in the final of the Taça da Liga. The Arsenalistas and Benfica played out an entertaining goalless draw at the Quarry tonight meaning it was a penalty shootout after 90 minutes. Former Benfica goalkeeper Quim was the hero for Braga, saving two penalties, which combined with Roderick's miss saw the home team make the final and give themselves a shot of winning a first major trophy since 1966. |

Eagles earn vital three points
Two first-half goals by Salvio and Lima gave Benfica victory over Braga tonight. The hosts matched Benfica all the way, especially in the first half when they put intense pressure on the visitors for long periods. But some fine goalkeeping by Artur and missed chances kept Braga down to one late goal by substitute João Pedro, and kept Benfica's championship challenge at full throttle.
