I would gladly finish fourth in the league without penaltys called for fouls out of the box and goals that come from handballs being called a goal. I would gladly finish fourth without offside goals and straight redcards for fouls that barely deserve a yellow. I would even gladly come in last in every taca da liga tournament without winning the final because of a handball penalty and a straight red that was admitted to as a mistake after the game. One thing I will not gladly accept is finishing in sixth for which my team has never done in its history unlike a few others. i will not accept tying to Braga after a ball to a white hand penatly and giving a black man the yellow because it would mean a red card.
Fact of the matter is meireles was the weak link in the portuguese midfield, his shooting was wasteful as well as most of his passes. The pace and play of the midfield was carried by Moutinho.
Had deco had the same opportunity at the final ball to ronaldo he would have been able to run onto the ball not stop all momentum and turn and shoot.
But Deco is a sad story for Benfica fans as is Mourinho. Had Deco made his name on Benfica's squad and Carlos Martins still be coming off Sporting's bench the lineup for Portugal would have been different. Much like Nuno Assis only playing for Benfica did the joke of an idea to include him come up. Had Benfica played more Portuguese players there would be some of you out there calling for every one of them be in the squad much like an unproven unrefined Nelson Oliveira. Luckily and hopefully Betinho keeps the name hes making for himself in three years and Mourinho keeps his word and we wont be having this conversation anymore. Because surely if anyone is going to pick the best players to win. The best players to fit our style of play its him.
In regards to the calling the Turkish league a graveyard I have no choice but to agree with Andre. Anyone who watches one league with most of its teams in finnancial trouble without wages being paid calling another league a graveyard league is pure ignorance. I feel as if I am having a conversation with a old timer from portugal in America in broken english as he makes fun of another nationality about their broken english. I have no desire to look up the attendance rate of Turkey but im sure it towers over uniao and beira mar's measly numbers.
