Star man: Wilson Eduardo

Wilson EduardoAlthough yet to break into Sporting’s starting XI striker Wilson Eduardo has impressed successively in the Lisbon club’s youth team, for Portugal U19s, for Portugal U21s and in his first senior season out on loan at Beira-Mar in 2010/11, finding the net five times and looking the part.

His main assets are his speed, his intelligence and movement in and around the box, and an uncanny knack for losing his marker, as well as excellent skill level. Eduardo will be looking to kick on this season in order to persuade his employers at Alvalade to give him a go in the Sporting first team.

I went to watch them last year against Vitoria Setubal. They were not the best in the world then, but now they have a fresh new squad who are miles better than last year! They drew 2-2 and it was real drama, with Djalmir scoring in the 86th min and Castro in the 95th! The fans make you feel very welcome and it is a real good change or alternate from English football! It is interesting to watch foreign teams as it is very different and in some cases better! Would recomend going! I am intending to go this feb half term and Easter! Should be great! I really think if they can keep it up they have a great chance of European football Qualification! Chris, who did you watch them against?

After taking in a game while on holiday last year, I really got a feel for S.C.O. They have a great bunch of ex pat fans and we were made very welcome.
Olhanense are on the up and a better team this year should see them up into mid table at least.
I will be visiting again soon and recommend you do too if on holiday on the Algarve in football season.
