Taca da Liga semi-finals set
Classico clash on tap for March
Routine home wins over Setubal and Maritimo saw Porto and Benfica set up a Clássico clash in the semi-finals of the Taca da Liga on Sunday night. The Dragons celebrated debut goals for Lucho and Janko, whilst Nelson and Rodrigo were on target for the Eagles. |

Taca da Liga: Gil Vicente oust Sporting to book semi-final place against Braga
Hugo Viana wonder goal keeps Arsenalistas bubbling
Gil Vicente followed up their superb victory against FC Porto in the Liga last weekend with another highly impressive display to win 1-0 at the Alvalade and knock Sporting out of the Taca da Liga.
Just a single goal was also scored in the Braga-Portimonense game, but what a goal it was. Hugo Viana’s astonishing 94th-minute free kick from inside his own half confirmed Braga as runaway winners of Group C to set up a semi-final clash against Gil. |

Bwin Cup: Guimaraes 1-4 Benfica
Wins for Braga and Penafiel conclude first phase
Benfica began their defence of the Bwin Cup with a 4-1 win over Vitoria de Guimaraes that, after a closely-contested first 45 minutes, got rather more comfortable for the Eagles following Pedro Mendes’ dismissal. A Cardozo brace sandwiched goals from Witsel and Rodrigo. Elsewhere, Braga defeated Nacional 2-1, whilst Penafiel were victorious at Portimonense. |

Bwin Cup: Last-gasp Onyewu snatches draw for Sporting
Gil Vicente, Maritimo and Vitoria Setubal off to winning start
 Rio Ave made a mockery of their lowly position in the table to give Sporting a real fright in Vila do Conde tonight. The evergreen Joao Tomas (pictured) gave the hosts an early lead and only an 88th minute equaliser from Onyewu prevented a shock in the first round of matches of the second group phase of the Bwin Cup.
Elsewhere Gil Vicente, Maritimo and Vitoria Setubal started the competition well with home wins over Moreirense, Santa Clara and Estoril respectively. |
