Academica in deep need of a win"My thoughts are only on a victory" - Goncalves Academica are currently in a bad spot as the team are sitting rock-bottom in the table, having only collected three points. Coach Rogerio Goncalves knows how bad the team needs to turn their fortunes around and will be looking to do so this weekend against Maritimo.
"Only a vicotry interests us," said Goncalves firmly. "Seeing the position that we are in, we are only thinking of gaining three points." "Maritimo have a good squad, but Academica must have the attitude that they have had, and take advantage of the opportunites that they create. My thoughts are only on a victory and this is the team's motivation and what we work towards." This will be the first match in the post-Carlos Carvalhal era since the Madeira club and the Portuguese coach parted ways earlier this week, and Goncalves will try to use that to his advantage, although the Academica boss does not expect his opponents' to play any differently. "I think that things will not change significantly. I am disappointed for Carlos as he is competent and personable, but we are talking about Maritimo - an adversary who we will provide some difficulties, but we want to win." Add your comment |
