Goncalves leaves post at AcademicaPoor run of results main culprit It comes as no surprise, but Rogerio Goncalves is no longer the coach at Academica. The team's 4-2 loss to Maritimo was the final straw as both club and individual came to terms to rescind the 50-year-old's contract.
Goncalves was brought in after Domingos Paciencia left for Sporting Braga, but it never came together for the Portuguese tactician as the Estudantes sit in last place in the standings, having only drawn in three of their seven matches. The former Naval, Beira-Mar, Varzim, Leixoes and Chaves manager is the second coach to be sacked this week after Carlos Carvalhal was disposed at Maritimo for the same reasons. No word has been announced by the club as to who the new coach will be, but assistant Ze Nando will take over in the interim. Add your comment |
