Villas Boas remains in Coimbra

Sporting fails to reach accord with Academica

villas_boas.jpgIt's back to the ol' drawing board for Sporting as the Lisbon club failed to find a replacement for Paulo Bento with their number one target, Academica's Andre Villas Boas.

It was well documented this past week that the Leoes were very much intrested in bringing Jose Mourinho's former assistant to the Alvalade with Villas Boas himself receptive to listening to what Sporting had to offer.

But neither club could come to an agreement and Academica have since released a statement that Villas Boas will be remaining with the Estudantes:

Academica and Sporting have not reached an accord for the transfer of our coach to the Alvalade. Villas Boas will remain in Coimbra.

With the same will and effort that has been shown, the Academica coach will continue to do the good work that he has done so far at the club and with the objective to bring the Briosa much success and triumphs.

Villas Boas himself was not upset that the two clubs could not come to terms, preventing him from making a move to Sporting, and has pledged his commitment to  Academica

"I am very honoured by Sporting's interest, but any decision that the president of Academica has made has been made on my account. I feel perfectly integrated in the project that was proposed to me."

There is a saying "Nothing flys higher than a eagle"

It's a shame that Sporting hasn't found a manager to take the position. Academica is last place and this guy won't take the opportunity. Also, at least Jorge Jesus finished the season with Braga. I agree Ferreira completely disrespected the club of Boavista. It don't matter because Ferreira won't last long at Porto nowadays because Porto struggles against teams like Maritimo and Belenenses!

porto has been the best team in portuguese league for the past 10 years. Who won uefa cup and champions league back to back? thats right .. porto. Who won 8 league titles in the last 10 years? right porto. Whos been performing consistently in the champions league for the portuguese league? ohhh wait thats porto. Whens the last time benfica went to the champions league? was it 4 years or 3 years ago? heck it doesnt really matter because they are used to losing to teams like espanyol, aek athens, and olympiakos(they lost 5-1!!!!!) . Wait, so in european competition whos the most for the portuguese league? thats right porto, sporting and even braga (benfica didnt make it farther then the group stage!! haha) . I hope benfica wins the uefa this year because the league would gain from that. go and complain about porto being corrupt all you want but you should embrace them. So far whats holding this leagues reputation in europe are BLUE DRAGONS.

I always find it funny when Porto fans get upset about them being found guilty for corruption. You should be happy about these comments since its been the only way you've been able to brag about winning cups. As for Sporting, I hope whoever they get works out well. I would hate to see them stuck in the middle of the table past this season.
Temper, temper...

My goodness jersey, what's got you so wound up? Is it the lack of punctuation in your posts? The same ones that you check periodically too to call people pop tarts? Is that even insulting?

My word, and the homophobia. Way to display it proud, buddy.

Oh, oh and there are those caps again....awesome!!!!!

...have any proof that Benfica were corrupt? No? Didn't think so, but it's just common knowledge, right? Right! Whatever makes you sleep at night, son.

Also, your cute take on my name, does this mean your homophobic? Sweetie, the gay community is nothing to fear.

Also, when you type in caps, are you yelling at your monitor at the same time. I bet you are.

No baby, you gtfoh and come back when your head isn't so far buried, well, you know where. You've got a nasty habit of talking out it, don't you?

Villas Boas was jumping at the chance and the only reason he's not going is because the club didn't feel they were going to be adequately compensated.

Jesus' departure disgraceful? What about Ferreira's? Remember he signed with Boavista and days later went to F(ootball) C(orruption) Porto? Don't remember? That was real classy.

Take off the Porto-coloured sunglasses, friend.

This is a refreshing touch of class from Villas Boas. Its nice to see a coach handle interest from one of the big three with both class and respect for his current club, unlike the way Jorge Jesus handled his Braga exit... but then again, as Manuel Machado said, "a cretin is a cretin..."
