Former Sporting and Seleccao defender Beto has returned to Portugal. The centre-back has signed for Liga Sagres side Belenenses.
The 33-year-old enjoyed the height of his career at Sporting, for whom he was a regular over a ten-year period, winning two championship medals.
He left the Alvalade in 2006 and has played the last two seasons for La Liga side Recreativo Huelva.
The Belenenses board is delighted to have captured a player with a wealth of experience, especially given the integration of several youth players into their first-team squad.
“Beto’s preference in representing our club instead of opting for other more financially advantageous offers was fundamental,” said the club through their website.

I knew Beto would return to Portugal and it's a Lisbon club.
